Harvest Market

Nestled in the heart of downtown Grainfield lies Harvest Market. Originally opened in the late 1920s, known as Grainfield I.G.A, it was most recently purchased in 2019 by Derek Herl, a Grainfield native, and his wife Kelsie.

Who We Are

This family-owned grocery store offers the amenities of the city in a small town environment. Harvest Market provides many traditional and unique services. The clean and friendly atmosphere makes shopping enjoyable. Guy Windholz, a Kansas Department of Agriculture, Food, Drug, and Lodging Surveyor commented, “Harvest Market is the neatest store I’ve ever visited and the cleanest in Kansas today.” It is easy to see why “The Community Comes Together…at Harvest.”

  • The grocery store originated in the late 1920s as the creation of Ig Brungardt
  • A second owner, William Dreher, continued the tradition for nearly a decade
  • Purchased in the late 1940s by Joseph Dinkel Sr., when it became Dinkel Food Store
  • Inherited in 1964 by Rudolph Dinkel
  • Robert and Kathy Hartman took over and dubbed it The Store in 1996
  • Dan and Nicole Godek purchased it in 2008 & changed the name to Harvest Market
  • Derek and Kelsie Herl purchased it in January 2019
